About Steve

Steve Fischmann represents District 37 in the New Mexico Senate, which includes neighborhoods in east Las Cruces, on the East Mesa, and in the Elephant Butte area of Sierra County.

Steve has long been an advocate for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and lower fuel costs, serving as chair of the Southwest Energy Alliance and on the boards of directors of the Southwest Environmental Center and the Coalition for Clean and Affordable Energy. He was also a leader in exposing questionable deals by the State Land Office and in advocating for the Organ Mountains and other public lands in New Mexico.
